Preppy — Privacy Policy

Last updated 20 July 2026 · Little Bird Solutions

The short version. Preppy has no accounts and no servers of ours. Your profile, your interview answers and your feedback are stored only on your own device.

To generate questions and feedback, Preppy sends your answers directly from your device to OpenAI, using an OpenAI API key that you provide. We never see that traffic and we never receive your answers.

On Android we collect anonymous usage and crash statistics. These contain no interview content and no identifier that points back to you. The iOS app collects nothing at all.

1. Who we are

Preppy is published by Little Bird Solutions, the data controller for the limited personal data described below. You can reach us at contact@littlebirdsolutions.com.

This policy covers the Preppy mobile app for Android and iOS (solutions.littlebird.interviewprep). It does not cover OpenAI's services, which are governed by OpenAI's own terms and privacy policy.

2. There is no Preppy account and no Preppy server

Preppy does not ask you to sign up, sign in, or create an account. We do not operate a backend that stores your data, and nothing you write in the app is uploaded to us or synced between your devices. If you use Preppy on two devices, they share nothing.

3. What is stored on your device

The following is written to a private database inside the app's own storage area, readable only by Preppy:

What Details
Your profile Industry, role, experience level, target companies, and the optional free-text "anything else" note you write during onboarding.
Interview transcripts Every question the interviewer asked and every answer you gave, verbatim.
Scorecards Your 1–5 scores for structure, substance and reflection, plus the written strengths, improvements and rationale.
App settings Whether you have finished onboarding, and your voice preference.

Your API key

Your OpenAI API key is stored separately from everything above, in the platform's hardware-backed secure storage — the Android Keystore (via encrypted preferences) on Android, and the iOS Keychain on iOS. On iOS it is marked as available only when the device is unlocked and is deliberately excluded from iCloud Keychain and encrypted backups. On Android, the app disables Android Backup entirely. The key leaves your device only as an authorisation header on requests to OpenAI. It is never sent to us, and it is never included in analytics or crash reports.

4. What is sent to OpenAI

Preppy is an AI app, and the AI runs on OpenAI's servers, not on your phone. When you use the app, your device sends the following directly to OpenAI, authenticated with your own API key:

These requests go from your device to OpenAI. They do not pass through any system operated by Little Bird Solutions, and we have no ability to read, log or retain them.

Because you are using your own API key, OpenAI processes this data under your relationship with them, not ours. How long OpenAI retains it, and what they do with it, is set by their policies — see OpenAI's privacy policy and their API data usage policies. At the time of writing, OpenAI states that data submitted through the API is not used to train their models by default.

Please treat this as real disclosure of real information. Interview answers often contain details about your employer, your colleagues, projects you have worked on, and sometimes commercially sensitive or confidential matters. Anything you type into Preppy will be sent to OpenAI. Do not enter information you are not free to share with a third party.

5. Analytics and crash reporting

Android

The Android app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to tell us which parts of the app are used and when it breaks. We have designed this deliberately narrowly.

We record that named events occurred — for example that onboarding was completed, that an interview was started, that a question was scored, or that a turn failed — along with fixed values such as which screen you were on, your experience level bracket, the AI provider, and the position of a question within an interview.

We do not record your questions, your answers, your profile free text, your scores, your API key, your name, your email address, or any identifier you have given us. The app is built so that free-form text physically cannot be attached to an analytics event. Crash reports are stripped of error message text before being sent, leaving only the type of error, specifically so that no fragment of an answer or a key can escape that way.

Firebase does automatically collect some standard technical information of its own, independent of the events above: a randomly generated app-instance identifier, your device model, operating system version, app version, and a coarse geographic region derived from your IP address. This is Google's standard behaviour for the SDK. Google processes this on our behalf; see Firebase's privacy documentation. For operational reasons our Firebase data is collected within a Google Cloud project registered to Little Bird Solutions

iOS

The iOS app contains no analytics and no crash reporting. It sends nothing to us or to Google under any circumstances.

6. What Preppy does not do

7. How long data is kept

Data on your device is kept until you delete it. Settings → Clear history deletes all of your saved interviews, answers and scorecards. Uninstalling the app removes everything, including your profile and your stored API key.

Analytics and crash data are retained by Firebase according to Google's default retention periods, after which they are deleted or aggregated.

8. Your rights

If you are in the UK, the EEA, or another region with comparable law, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability over personal data we hold about you.

In practice, almost everything Preppy holds about you is on your own device, under your own control — so you can exercise those rights directly and immediately by editing your profile, clearing your history, or uninstalling the app. For the anonymous analytics data described in section 5, or for any other question about your rights, contact us at contact@littlebirdsolutions.com and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority; in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

Where we rely on a legal basis for processing, it is our legitimate interest in understanding whether the app works and in fixing crashes, balanced against the deliberately minimal and non-identifying nature of what we collect.

9. Children

Preppy is intended for adults preparing for job interviews. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

10. International transfers

Requests you make to OpenAI, and the analytics described above, may be processed on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred out of the UK or EEA, the recipients rely on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and — for changes that materially affect you — tell you inside the app before they take effect.
