For a bug, it helps to say which device and which version of iOS you are on, and what was happening on screen when it went wrong.
Common questions
How do I start a game? There is no button.
Drag anywhere on the screen. That draws a platform under the ball, and drawing the first one is what starts the run — the title screen is already the game, so there is nothing to press first.
How do I play?
The ball bounces on its own. You drag to draw a platform under it, and it bounces off at whatever angle you drew. Draw the next platform higher than the last and you climb. Your score is the height you reached plus what you collected on the way.
My ball always bounces the same height. Is that a bug?
No — it's the rule the game is built on. Every platform bounce leaves at the same speed no matter how fast the ball arrived, so bouncing on one platform forever gains you nothing. You only climb by placing the next platform higher.
My run ended. How do I restart?
You don't. A run ends when the last ball in play falls below the bottom of the screen, the camera goes to meet the next start, and your next drag is already the next run. There is no restart because there is nothing to restart.
How do I turn off the sound, music or vibration?
Open the small tab at the edge of the title or end-of-run screen. Settings has three switches — SOUND, MUSIC and HAPTICS — and BACK returns you to the game. Haptics is the switch that stops the phone buzzing even when it isn't muted.
How do I share a run?
At the end of any run that drew at least one platform, a tab appears under your score. Tapping it hands your run's own drawing — the platforms you drew, the route the ball took and what it flew through — to the iOS share sheet. Drawing the next platform clears the offer, whether or not you used it.
What are the three missions at the bottom?
Running tallies of things your runs already do — points climbed, pickups collected, and so on. They count across runs rather than within one, and each one is replaced by a new mission as soon as you complete it.
How do I clear my best score?
Settings → RESET PROGRESS. The first tap arms it and shows you the score you are about to erase; tap again to confirm, or leave it alone for a moment and it disarms itself. It erases your best score and your mission progress, and deliberately leaves your sound, music and haptics switches alone. There is no way to undo it.
Does my score follow me to another device?
No. Overshoot has no accounts, no sign-in and no servers of ours. Your best score, your missions and your settings live only on the device you played on, and deleting the app deletes them. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The whole game is playable with no connection. The only thing that uses the network is the anonymous gameplay and crash statistics described in the privacy policy.
Are there ads or in-app purchases?
No. Overshoot shows no advertising, sells nothing inside the app, and asks for no payment details.
